Founded in 1991 Southern Ingenuity, Inc. seeks to provide support to people with who need a hand so that they may stay at home.  Consumers need’s may arise because of a developmental disability or may simply be due to the natural aging process.  Southern Ingenuity, Inc. offers support to people so that Nursing Home and Group Home placements occur out of choice and not out of a person missing some simple supports in their home.  Many people find that with a few hours of support a day (or a week) they can remain home for a long, long time.  They may be able to stay home forever.  The Government through its funding and research has discovered that people can stay at home, where they are happiest, and it costs less than sending people to congregate settings away from their home.  The people are happier because they get to stay home.  The government and citizens are happier because the cost is much less than nursing home and group home programs.

Private pay services are available and can include 24-hour on-call supports and companion services.  Most service situations may take 3-4 weeks to begin due to the important staff matching process that must take place.  There are many funding sources for families to pursue beyond private pay.
